Punctuation rules

Teaching  information management unit standards requires a good understanding of grammar, punctuation and spelling conventions. Sadly I have a lot to learn… I illustrated the importance of grammar (in a girls class) with the following example; ( from Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss)

“A woman, without her man, is nothing. “

you can imagine the reaction… with a bit of punctuation the sentence was a lot more acceptable

“A woman: without her, man is nothing. “
