Earthquake decision

Faced with a report that indicates the main block would fail in a moderate earthquake the Wellington East Girls College Board of Trustees took the decision to evacuate more or less immediately. This is both a courageous and correct decision. Once the facts were known no other decision was morally defensible. This is especially true when located in Wellington, a city renowned for ongoing seismic activity, albeit at a low-level. Well done.

It means that staff and students will be relocated around the school and that prefabs will likley be moved on site to accomodate dislocated staff and students.
