School holidays – an oxymoron for teachers

I discovered that it is normal for teachers to wake up most days at 3:00 am thinking about work and unable to get back to sleep.

Teaching can indeed be relentless. School holidays are organised “time outs” and a chance to plan the next term – especially if everything you teach is new.

So don’t begrudge teachers “school holidays” because they are usually not.

  1. you are right. and you will find that school holidays also fill up with conferences, call back days, and other school-related pupil-free days, so don’t ever let anyone tell you you get “too many holidays!”
