Financial literacy

Following on from last post, https://edwinbruce.wordpress.com/2012/10/08/farmers-finance/one of the reasons I was so annoyed is that, in general, New Zealanders are not known to be greatly financially literate. The credit card on offer has a 24%+ interest rate and whilst has no set-up  or annual chargers, the small writing reserves the right to add these later.

When teaching senior students Excel spreadsheets we use budgeting as a context. Hopefully the result is that students realise that just because you can afford the cash flow  it does not mean it is sensible.
