I had the pleasure of attending Ulearn at Sky City, Auckland over the last few days. Great speakers but sadly (for a conference largely celebrating IT in Education) the technology let them down.
Worse for the presenters of smaller breakout sessions, where interactive content and audience participation was encouraged. I did a short presentation to a small audience on open data, fortunately I had a “Plan B”, I could present via screen shots. Virtually all the feedback forms stated ” Really good presentation, shame the wireless technology let you down”… strangely more or less what I wrote on several evaluations I completed.
Bottom Line: NOT ACHIEVED for Digital Technologies. This is just not good enough, if Sky City Conference Venue with all their resources cannot get the absolute basics right what hope is there for schools. What must teachers that are not used to technology be thinking?
