It is never the students fault

“Mr Joyce said the funding had been opened up to private providers because many of the polytechnics had not been performing, with a completion rate of just 50 per cent.”

At tertiary institutes I expect students to be self motivating, if not they should not be there wasting tax payers money. Maybe I am not getting the full story here but is it the Polytechnics job to nurse students through their courses. Will the private sector do any better, and if they do I will be interested to know how.

In school we have pastoral care responsibilities, as well as professional and legal obligations but really, if a student chooses not to complete a tertiary institutes course I think the blame lies with the student.
