I recently met a well qualified Digital Technology teacher who was made redundant due to falling school roll. There were two DT teachers at the particular school, one well qualified, one not so well qualified. How do you choose? On merit, qualifications, performance etc. , apparently not … last in – first out seems to be the approach taken. The qualified teacher gets a year of to study on full pay, then off to a well paid computing job. Not sure the students got the better deal in this situation, nor tax payers.
He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.John Cotton Dana (1856–1929)
