I placed a web cam in my classroom, on the top of a bookcase, not obscured but not obvious. It was NOT plugged in (but could have been in a way that was not obvious). I asked students to detect if anything was out of place in the classroom. Despite several hints none of the Year 9 students detected the camera. This led to a discussion about privacy and awareness of who is recording what and when. They don’t need to be paranoid, just more aware of the risks and potential implications.
He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.John Cotton Dana (1856–1929)
