Women in Computing

I plan to share a link to the National Center for women in IT website with my senior students. It has some interesting information. For example:

The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that from 2010-2020 there will be nearly 1.4 million computing-related jobs openings available in US. At current college graduation rates in computing, we can only fill 32% of those jobs with U.S. computing graduates.Consider this: More than half of professional occupations in U.S. are held by women(57%). But the percentage of computing occupations held by women lags far behind.26% of computing occupations are held by African-American women, 3% by Asian women, 4% by Hispanic/Latina women 1%.  Source: NCWIT Scorecard
