I am thinking of dumping the landline. it has largely been used to communicate with friends and relatives without easy/cheap access to cell phones, Skype, Facebook etc… This is no longer the case… I think. I am not sure half the students I teach would even know what a landline is… Maybe I will just pull the plug for a month and see if anyone misses it?
One hesitation relates to those services (not) businesses that require you sit on the phone and wait… which with Skype is cheap enough. Although, I note that even Spark finally has a call back option these days.
One big upside is all those phone spam organisations and charities that pursue you forever once you have made one donation (hooray for Give a Little) will no longer have access.
