Lockdown

WEGC was placed in lock down mode last Thursday. This is the first time as a teacher (6 years) I have experienced the protocol in action. It occurred on Day 1 of the school year and at a lunchtime, meaning lots of new teachers, new students and outside of regular classes on a site that is 50% a construction zone. Teachers and students responded to the automated communications quickly and efficiently. I joined around 20 students and one other staff member in one of the computer rooms. Door locked, curtains drawn, lights out, students out of sight,,, and communication via email through cell phones, It was actually fairly interesting although I can understand why students could get a little traumatised at the site of Police on campus.
