Professional Development for Te Reo in classrooms

The government is funding an initiative to get teachers and support staff speaking Te Reo in the classroom. I am not good at learning other languages but will give it a go if the government, as suggested, funds the cost and classroom relief required… However, from what I infer funding will cover a “contribution” to the cost of relief.

“The funding provides a contribution towards staff/teacher relief costs, so staff can attend classes.”

That is fine but where does the balance come from? The School Board of Trustees, or as often the case especially in schools with limited funding – teachers donating their time? If the latter then I don’t know how teachers will fit this into their busy lives, or even if they will bother to. I will be interested in how the pilot implementations go…
